Presidential Search

The College of Charleston’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that the national search for a new president for the College of Charleston is underway. Glenn F. McConnell, who has served as president since July 2014, announced in January that he will retire effective July 2, 2018.

The Board of Trustees has convened a search committee consisting of six Board members and two faculty representatives. The Board’s chair has charged the search committee to lead listening sessions with both internal and external stakeholders, to create a leadership profile and to bring highly qualified candidates to the Board for consideration. The search is being guided in its work by Trustee Renee Buyck Romberger, who is an alumna of the College, hospital executive and a longtime volunteer leader on campus (Board of Trustees, College of Charleston Alumni Association and College of Charleston Foundation Board).

The College of Charleston Board of Trustees will be assisted by a global executive search firm in conducting this search. The search firm will be identified in spring 2018.
